DY Series Cyclone Sand Settler
Cyclone sand settlers are primarily used for pretreatment in sewage treatment plants (stations), positioned before primary sedimentation tanks and after screens to remove larger inorganic particles from sewage.
The cyclone sand separator operates on the principles of centrifugal sedimentation and density differences. When water flows into the separator tangentially from the inlet under a certain pressure, it generates intense rotational movement. Due to the differing densities of sand and water, and the varying forces exerted by centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, and fluid drag, the lower-density clear water rises and is discharged through the overflow outlet, while the denser sand is discharged through the bottom sand outlet, thereby achieving the purpose of sand removal. Within a certain range and under specific conditions, the higher the inlet pressure of the sand separator, the higher the sand removal rate; multiple units can be operated in parallel.
Equipment Advantages
☑ Simple structure, easy operation, safe and reliable performance, and virtually maintenance-free.
☑ Low drive power, energy-efficient, and low operating costs.
☑ Compact design, small footprint, minimal impact on the surrounding environment, and good sanitary conditions.
☑ Excellent sand-water separation performance; the separated sand has low moisture content and minimal organic matter, making it easy to transport.
☑ The system uses PLC automatic control for sedimentation and sand discharge cycles, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
☑ High transmission efficiency, minimal mechanical wear, few equipment failures, and convenient operation, management, and maintenance.
☑ Corrosion-resistant materials are used based on the water source and water quality, ensuring high equipment durability.
☑ Sand particles can be removed from the water without interrupting the water supply.
☑ Avoid the secondary water contamination associated with other sand removal methods, ensuring high removal efficiency.

Installation Notes
☑ The cyclone sand separator should be installed on the main pipeline of the water supply network and secured to a foundation; a bypass must be installed between the inlet and outlet pipes.
☑ To ensure a steady inflow, a straight pipe section with the same diameter as the inlet should be installed upstream of the inlet, with a length equivalent to 10–15 times the diameter of the inlet.
☑ Sufficient maintenance space must be provided around the unit during installation.
☑ During normal operation, the inlet and outlet valves must be open, while the drain valve and bypass valve must be closed.
☑ Drain and clean the unit periodically based on the sand content in the source water. Open the drain valve during the process; this will not affect normal water usage in the system.
☑ Close the drain valve after draining is complete.
☑ If the sand discharge pressure is insufficient, close the valve at the outlet.
☑ This unit does not have a filtration function. If filtration is required, a filter must be installed.
